What the Migration Cockpit is (and why it replaced LSMW)

Why SAP built it

  • Pre-built migration objects. Instead of building each load by hand (as in LSMW), the cockpit ships hundreds of ready-made objects (cost center, G/L account, customer, supplier, material, open items…) with their target mapping already done.
  • Templates, not recordings. You download a structured template, fill it, and upload — no screen recordings that break.
  • Built-in validate + simulate. Every load is checked and can be simulated before it touches your data.

Two names, one tool

  • LTMC — the original Migration Cockpit (a web/transaction UI in earlier S/4HANA releases).
  • "Migrate Your Data" — the newer Fiori app that supersedes the LTMC transaction in recent releases. Same idea, refreshed UI. Throughout, "the cockpit" means both.
