What is ERP, really?

Imagine a big company: it buys materials, makes products, sells them, pays staff, and tracks every cent. For decades each of those jobs lived in its own separate program that didn't talk to the others.

ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) is one connected system that runs all of it together — finance, purchasing, sales, inventory, HR — sharing the same data.

Think of it like the nervous system of a business: when sales sells something, purchasing, the warehouse, and finance all "feel" it instantly, because it's one system, not five.
